Appointments to the Commission on Strategic Development

The Government today (17 March) announced the appointment of Professor LEE Chack-fan, S.B.S., J.P. and Mr LUI Tim-leung, Tim, J.P. to the Commission on Strategic Development (the Commission) to serve on the Committee on Governance and Political Development. It was also announced that Mr HO On-tat, Andy had resigned from the Commission on Strategic Development on 8 February 2006.

"The Commission on Strategic Development is the most important advisory body to the Chief Executive on Hong Kongˇ¦s long term development needs and goals. The major task of the Committee on Governance and Political Development (the Committee) of the Commission is to provide advice to the Chief Executive on the direction and strategy of political development and enhancing the quality of governance. Professor Lee and Mr Lui, with their extensive public service experience and expertise in their respective fields, will be able to contribute to the work of the Committee," a Government spokesman said.

The appointments of Professor Lee and Mr Lui are from 17 March 2006 to 30 June 2007. A brief introduction on Professor Lee and Mr Lui are enclosed.
